dark contrast

Skirt: c/o Ax Paris
Boots: Sarenza

This outfit couldn't be any more different to the one I shared yesterday. As a general rule I am trying to wear more bright colours these days to encourage happy thoughts but I couldn't resist pairing this Ax Paris wet look skater skirt with something on the darker side and this bunny jumper is cute enough to make anyone smile!

I'm fairly hopeless at styling skater skirts despite my ongoing obsession with them. I'm not really one for tight tops but I think sometimes something more form fitting is needed and this was one of those times. What do you think? I really lack tops in my wardrobe, aside from my selection of baggy knitwear, I think buying some good basics will be a mission for Spring/Summer so all suggestions are welcome. I need to start thinking outside my clothing comfort zone a little and embracing what I have. No more hiding.

Well, it's off to work. Monday passed in it's usual blur and I'm ticking off the hours until the end of the month and payday. I can't even remember the last time I was paid...it was before Christmas and that feels like a lifetime ago now, it always strikes me as odd, all that build up for one day that soon gets lost in the madness of a fresh start.

I actually really like how a skater skirt looks with a baggy, oversized top :)

That jumper looks fab with that skirt and I have the same issues of styling skater skirts. It really does need to be something fitted worn on top of them unless you wear a cropped baggy jumper (which I am soooo not going to do lol) I have tucked a few thin knit jumpers into mine (got some from Primark for a couple of quid) and they work really well, fitted enough to balance out the skirt but not so chunky that it looks hideously bulky tucked in.

You look gorgeous, I tend to wear printed tops with my skater skirts but I think anything with sleeves goes!

I still love this adorable jumper, I desperately need another black skirt. This looks super cute on you but I'm thinking lace!? Hmmm.

Your bunny rabbit jumper is adorable! I clicked on the link to further explore and discovered the Miss Selfridge US - From Paris With Love Collection. It's lovely! I rarely wind up using my initial plan for both the top and bottom of an outfit. Once I have one piece and try it on I get a better feel for what would coordinate well with it - but maybe that's just me. Fashions don't always have the colour, look or length I inagined when seeing them on a web page. Recently I've been very pleasantly surprised and what I bought looked even better than I thought it would. I'll add Miss Selfridge to my list of places to look for pretty fashions.

I have 2 days till payday and there is SO MUCH I want to buy! Love the jumper, I actually really like a skater skirt with a longer, baggier jumper cause it tones down the 'sticky-outness' of it and makes it more wearable in my opinion :) x
